Recent Form

Wolves completed back-to-back wins after losing three in a row against Arsenal, West Ham and Palace. Just one goal was enough to get the better of their latest opponents, Everton, which was scored by club captain Conor Coady after a beautiful cross from Ruben Neves.

The Portuguese midfielder’s future has been thrown into question over the last couple of days with mounting speculation that Barcelona are keeping an eye on him to fill the Sergio Busquets role, though for the moment, he’ll continue to play a vital role for Wolves in the middle of the park.

Following a winless streak of eight games, in which seven were losses, the Peacocks finally have a win to their name after Jesse Marsch’s third game at the helm.

The sacking of Marcelo Bielsa and the hiring of the American has come under some scrutiny by Leeds’ fans, partly due to the fact that Bielsa was a club legend and helped them back into the Premier League, but also because Marsch had a thoroughly unsuccessful time at RB Leipzig.

He survived at the helm for only 157 days and held a W7-D2-L9 record during his tenure, whereas Leipzig’s record since his departure is a much healthier W12-D3-L2, which really shows the poor job he was doing.

Under 2.5 Goals

There is an interesting match-up going on in terms of goals here. Wolves have been known throughout this season to not score or concede many and are the lowest-ranked team in the PL in that regard, averaging just 1.8 per game.

By contrast, Leeds are the highest-ranked team, just edging out Liverpool, with an average of 3.57 goals per game across their away matches this term.

Aside from a few teething problems, Marsch’s Leeds have looked a lot more stable at the back compared to his predecessor.

They have finally given up the strict man-marking tactics which contributed to the concession of so many goals, whereas they had previously turned up against some of the best teams in the world and got exposed for it (including 6-0 and 7-0 defeats away to Liverpool and Man City respectively this season).

The Draw

We don’t think a Wolves match result is the best bet for this game because of the new appointment of Marsch. Despite not doing so well at Leipzig, the fabled new manager bounce is still lingering and they could pull off a surprise win or nick a draw.

However, a stalemate is something that interests us due to the fact that Leeds are now more compact, while Wolves have always been a tightly-knit unit since Bruno Lage came in.
