Recent Form

Victory away at Freiburg was massive for Bremen at the weekend and although they still remain firmly planted in the relegation zone, they are now six points from safety with a game in hand, while the relegation play-off spot is just three points away.

That win was their first in eight matches, though Florian Kohfeldt will hope it proves a turning point for his squad and that they can push on from here.

Monchengladbach suffered a big defeat to fellow top-four candidates Leverkusen thanks to a brace from the increasingly influential Kai Havertz, meaning they have now been leapfrogged and sit in fifth.

We wouldn’t read too much into that result for this one though as, despite trailing for the majority, they remained very much in the game against a very in-form side, while a look at opposition type tells a different story.

Up against the top half of the table, Marco Rose’s side are now winless in six matches and have gone W4-D3-L6 all season.

By contrast, when facing bottom-half outfits like Bremen they’re a much more impressive W12-D1-L1, winning each of the last five such games and so we’re inclined to get the favourites onside in this clash.

Gladbach -1 Handicap

What’s more, Bremen have the worst home record in the league with just five of their 21 points to date being picked up on home soil.

They’ve lost each of their last seven at the Weserstadion by an aggregate score of 19-2, with the last five of those coming by a minimum of two strikes.

The visitors managed at least two goals in 11 of those 14 matches against the bottom half, including each of the past five, and they look extremely well priced on the handicap to bounce back from that weekend setback.

Marcus Thuram To Score Anytime

Although we’d expect the away win, picking out a goalscorer is a slightly trickier task as Gladbach like to share around the responsibility.

Their last seven goals have been scored by six different scorers, though Marcus Thuram catches our eye.

He was the brightest spark in their weekend defeat and caused the Leverkusen backline some problems, as well as managing to net a well taken equaliser.

That’s now two in two since the return of the season for the Frenchman, and we like the look of him to make that three from three here.

Monchengladbach -1 Handicap At 17/10

Marcus Thuram To Score Anytime At 7/5
