Nigel Pearson watched from the stands as Watford managed to hold Palace off to earn a point in caretaker Hayden Mullins’ final game in the dugout, while a 2-0 defeat at Anfield in his first match in control last time out was hardly disastrous.
Indeed, they proved hard to break down with the league leaders taking until the 38th minute to strike through Mo Salah, whilst their second didn’t come until the dying embers of the game.
Man Utd are currently riding a wave of four wins from their last five unbeaten outings across all competitions and given two of those victories came against Spurs and their Manchester neighbours, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has very much bought himself some more time in the dugout.
However, having earnt 14 of their total 25 points against the ‘Big Six’ and this season’s Leicester side, as well as beating the Blues in the League Cup at Stamford Bridge, we’d be a little hesitant to get too stuck into them.
Indeed, against the rest they’re a mediocre W2-D5-L4 from their 11 such outings this term, as they’ve drawn each of the last three.
The Hornets may be just W1-D4-L5 from their 10 outings since October, but they managed to earn stalemates against top half sides Sheffield Utd, Spurs and Palace, while they’ve drawn four of their last six at Vicarage Road in that time and only narrowly lost out to the Blues 2-1 here last month.

Solskjaer’s charges are still a woeful W4-D5-L9 from their 18 trips in all tournaments since that famous Champions League comeback in Paris back in March. Indeed, those victories came against a random mix of teams in Partizan, Norwich, Chelsea and Man City and so we’re inclined to take them on with the players clearly having an issue with getting up for their away matches.
However, considering the fact they’ve only lost two of their last seven of these matches, one of which was when they sent their youngsters out to Astana, we’d rather back the stalemate.
Rashford To Score Anytime
Although we’re taking the Red Devils on, we still fancy Marcus Rashford to get on the scoreboard. The England international has netted in each of his three starts against the Hornets since 2016/17, whilst his form since late October is something to behold.
Only three times has he failed to score from his last 13 starts, plundering as many as 11 goals across them and at a shade off evens, he looks great value against team currently propping up the table.
