Recent Form

Belgium are unsurprisingly in control of Group E, but Wales and the Czech Republic are locked on 11 points as second place looks set to go down to the wire. The Czechs currently lead narrowly on goal difference, having played a game more, though Wales’ final game after this encounter sees them host the group leaders.

The Dragons are a tough nut to crack and are rarely beaten by anyone other than the top sides. They’re W14-D9-L5 since September 2019, as only England, Belgium, France, Italy and Denmark got the better of them.

However, despite a resolute nature, they remain a low-scoring team reliant upon the star power of Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey.

Bale missed the last international break with a knee injury but is available here for his 100th cap, though he’s only just returned to full training a last took to the field for Real Madrid at the end of August.

Ramsey has seen very limited game time at Juventus this season, so it remains to be seen exactly what shape the pair are in ahead of this clash.

Wales To Win By 1 Goal

Excluding those aforementioned defeats to the top sides, Wales have drawn five of their past eight appearances, including goalless stalemates with the likes of Albania, Finland and Estonia.

Also excluding those results, 19 of their past 22 fixtures have seen fewer than three goals, as Wales scored more than once on just six occasions.

Belarus appear there for the taking having now lost seven games on the bounce, though after an 8-0 humiliation away to Belgium at the start of this run, none of the subsequent six games have seen them go down by more than two goals, with four coming by one-goal margins.

That includes a 3-2 defeat hosting Wales in September, while they also went down 1-0 in a friendly with the Dragons in Cardiff back in 2019.

Wales To Win 1-0

Only two of Wales’ 10 victories since 2020 have seen them triumph by a two-goal margin, with seven of these ending 1-0, so it’s set to be a game of fine margins.

Home form could prove key however, with Wales winning 10 of 14 unbeaten matches on their own patch since the start of 2019, as eight saw a one-goal margin, including seven that finished 1-0.

PREDICTIONS:

WALES TO WIN BY 1 GOAL

WALES TO WIN 1-0
