Both these sides enjoyed massive wins prior to the international break. Villa took Norwich apart 5-1 away from home, while Brighton were busy dismantling Spurs 3-0 at the Amex.
However, the Lilywhites have hit a sticky patch recently and have been dreadful on the road specifically in 2019, and it’s Villa’s form that appears to be in the better place at present.
That win over Spurs was the Seagulls’ first since an opening day success over a truly dismal Watford, who remain the only side yet to register a victory this term and are the divisions’ lowest scorers with just four strikes to their name, while their goal difference already stands at -16.
Meanwhile, Villa have put together a run of two wins from three unbeaten matches across all competitions, including a victory over their opponents for this fixture in the League Cup.
Although Brighton made wholesale changes for that clash and will have their best players on display here, Villa’s attacking exploits have certainly caught the eye in recent weeks.
They were only 10 minutes away from securing a win at the Emirates in their previous fixture before Arsenal fought back with two late goals, even if the Gunners’ makeshift full-back Ashley Maitland-Niles saw red just before half time.
The Villans may not be looking the most secure defensively on recent showings, conceding seven times across those recent four fixtures, though they also plundered 12 down the other end with seven different goalscorers to boot.
John McGinn To Score Anytime
Dean Smith’s side are actually the highest-scoring team amongst the bottom half of the table with 13 goals from eight matches, as only five teams have netted more than them across the whole league, leaving us interested in the goalscorers market.
Wesley has scored three times in Villa’s last four matches across all tournaments, though John McGinn has also been productive and provides a better option at the prices.
He’s bagged three goals and an assist so far this term, including two goals in their last three outings, as he’s averaging over half a shot more per game than any other teammate.
Moreover, he hasn’t been goal shy over the international break either with a hat-trick against San Marino for Scotland on Sunday.
Aston Villa Draw No Bet
Although we wouldn’t trust Villa enough to back them outright, they appear a fairly safe proposition draw no bet.
They only lost four of 24 matches in the Championship at Villa Park last season when including the play-offs, while Brighton have endured long standing problems away from the Amex.
Since their promotion, the Seagulls are just W6-D10-L26 on the road, and having failed to net in three games on their travels since that win over Watford on the opening day, we’re happy to go against them.
