Jose Mourinho’s return to Old Trafford provides plenty of intrigue and he’ll feel his old team are there for the taking.
He’ll certainly know what to expect from them, being very well acquainted with the bulk of their players, which could be particularly useful for him here as a manager who has often tailored his teams’ tactics to that of his opponents.
Given Mauricio Pochettino and Unai Emery have left Spurs and Arsenal respectively, while Pep Guardiola, Brendan Rodgers, Jurgen Klopp and Frank Lampard all enjoy the full support of their employers, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the one amongst the top sides whose job is under serious threat.
He’s only managed to win four out of 14 league games this season, with Mourinho already up to half that amount already after only two weeks at the helm, and the Portuguese coach will be desperate to show United what they’re missing.

The ‘Special One’ has already taken Spurs up to fifth in the table, having been down in the bottom half at the time of his appointment, though while his attack has flourished, they’ve shipped goals left, right and centre so far.
This is clearly an issue Mourinho will pay close attention to, but just a couple of weeks into the job, he’ll need more time to get that backline organized.
Given that Spurs have seen at least five goals in clashes with West Ham, Olympiakos and Bournemouth, it would be a surprise if the high output suddenly dried up seeing as United’s recent encounters haven’t lack for goals either.
Across all competitions, seven of the Red Devils’ last eight matches have seen a minimum of three strikes, with four of five Premier League outings over this period seeing at least four.
Spurs weren’t the best of travellers to the top sides under Pochettino, but the Argentine was criticized on occasion for his in-game substitutions and under Mourinho, we’d expect Spurs to be more competitive in clashes with the rest of the ‘Big Six’.
However, given that Mourinho has only gone W5-D11-L9 over the past decade against ‘Big Six’ sides’ in the Premier League, we’d avoid backing his new side to claim the spoils despite the swinging momentum.
Dele Alli To Score Anytime
Dele Alli has been one of the prime beneficiaries of the change in the dugout. Having found himself shunted out into a wider or deeper role in quite a few of his appearances this season under Pochettino, the 23-year-old has now started in a central attacking midfield position in Mourinho’s preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.
He’s hit a brace against Bournemouth and another strike hosting Olympiakos in his last two appearances and looks fit and back to his best.
Given talismanic striker Harry Kane has only ever scored twice in 11 career appearances against Man Utd, we prefer his England teammate at the prices.
