Having secured back-to-back victories over Spurs and Man City in the Premier League, Man Utd are starting to restore some normality amongst the heavyweights.
Indeed, they jumped six places in the table to fifth and with Chelsea losing to their next opponents Everton, the top four is very much a realistic target once again.
AZ Alkmaar on the other hand currently sit second behind Ajax in the Eredivisie, though they’re streaks clear of the next best side, PSV, who trail them by seven points.
Clearly, they deserve some respect and in fact, when these two met in the reverse fixture it ended as a bore draw, so the Red Devils will certainly know that their visitors are no pushovers.
Only 13 sides have qualified for the knockouts through the Europa League group stages already, including these two sides, but with the easier draw up for grabs in the next round for whoever wins, they’ll both want to win this one.
United have the slight advantage of only needing a draw to fend off the Dutch sides’ threat to their throne at the top of Group L, and with this match at Old Trafford, they’ll likely play a stronger side than the one that lost in Astana a fortnight ago.
Of course, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be conscious of their domestic encounter with a reinvigorated Everton outfit at the weekend, but a draw here at a minimum is still a must.

Solskjaer’s men have been similarly as impressive at Old Trafford though, going W6-D4-L1 from their 11 matches this term, although all four of those stalemates have come across the last seven of these.
Moreover, while the Norwegian will eschew wholesale changes, he’s likely to rotate his squad a little for this fixture and with that in mind, the draw appeals at the prices.
