The Masters - Golf Betting Preview

Tiger’s return to form makes this the most highly anticipated Masters in recent history

Masters Week is upon us! The year’s first major tournament is always one of the highlights in the calendar, but this year it feels extra special. Tiger Woods is in contention on Sundays once again. We have the possibility of seeing a third consecutive European winner. And Rory McIlroy is chasing an elusive career grand slam. With so many potential winners in the field, you might be struggling to know where to start. Fortunately for you, we’ve got all your Masters betting odds covered here.

Can Tiger complete what would surely be one of the greatest comebacks in sporting history?

He couldn’t, could he? What a return to the game it has been for the 42-year-old. With two top five finishes in his last two starts, Tiger-mania is at fever pitch ahead of Thursday’s opening round. Woods has made just one appearance at Augusta in the last four years, with his last victory coming back in 2005. A win this week, meanwhile, would be his first major title in 10 years. A surgically-repaired back appears to have rejuvenated the four-time Masters champion, however. It would not surprise many if Woods came good on his 14/1 offering to capture a fifth green jacket this week.

Will Casey lead the European charge this week?

Paul Casey is rather flying under the radar heading into the start of the Masters, and he probably wouldn’t have it any other way. With five top-10 finishes in 11 Masters appearances, the 40-year-old has a game very well suited to Augusta. At 20/1, this could be the year he breaks his major duck. Casey is long off the tee and has the high ball flight that is invaluable at Augusta. Having won on the PGA Tour already this season, his confidence is high. With such a strong record at the Masters, Casey should be in the mix come Sunday.

Can Poulter get back-to-back wins after last gasp qualification?

What a finish it was to the Houston Open last week. Needing to win to earn his place at the Masters, Ian Poulter holed a lengthy birdie putt on the 72nd hole to force a playoff. A par was good enough for Poulter on the first playoff hole in what was his last remaining chance to qualify for the year’s first major. After being mistakenly informed he had already qualified the week before, Poulter was a popular winner in Houston. The Ryder Cup talisman has been very accurate off the tee of late, whilst also reaping the rewards from a change in putter. You have to putt well at Augusta and if the 42-year-old can keep up his hot streak this week, he could offer good value at 40/1.
