New Zealand v Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka are currently second in the Group 1 after hammering Ireland by nine wickets with 5 overs remaining. Their most recent game wasn’t what the Sri Lankans would have been hoping for as they were dealt a similar blow to Ireland, losing by seven wickets with 21 balls remaining.

The Kiwis recent game against Afghanistan was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to poor weather conditions.
These two sides haven’t played one another since 2019 but the Kiwis take the cake in their overall H2H’s winning ten of the 18 matches. Sri Lanka had a great run in to this tournament winning a vast majority of their warm-up matches and have won eight of their last eleven games (since August) including wins against India, Bangladesh and Pakistan twice. Their record against the top eight nations was W3-L1.
During the same time, New Zealand have also performed well and have the same record of W8-L3 in their last 11 matches and against the elite cricket nations (top eight) their record stands W4-L3 with their three loses coming against the West Indies and Pakistan twice.
Sri Lanka aren’t quite as good as New Zealand but they have played well against the top nations and because of that we think that they are slightly mispriced and that’s where the value lies.
