One win in five now for the Sunrisers have left them very much on the backfoot in the hunt for the top four, and you get the sense anything other than a victory here will end their season.
Having impressively beaten the Royals, despite losing David Warner and Jonny Bairstow early on, there was a feel that Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar could provide some much needed backup to the openers for the remainder of the season, though in their last match up against Kings XI is was back to square one.
Warner and Bairstow put on a 56 first wicket stand and the Sunrisers looked to be cruising when needing 17 off 14 before losing their last six wickets for just four runs which would have been a huge blow for morale, and they can’t afford to be as poor against a bowling attack like this.
The Delhi Capitals don’t come into this match in form either having lost their last two games, though with MI and RCB also dropping points in their last game they remain firmly in the hunt for a top two spot, and a victory here would go a long way to sealing that.
Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje have been impeccable this season with the ball, grabbing 37 wickets between them, and the Sunrisers will fear playing them, especially if they can get Warner flustered early like Jofra Archer managed to on Thursday.
Shikhar Dhawan has been by far their standout batsman, with Shreyas Iyer just going off the boil a bit as the pitches slow up, though that should fit Shimron Hetmyer down to the ground and we feel they certainly have enough firepower to see off this struggling Sunrisers side, though at such a short price we’ll look elsewhere.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Highest Opening Partnership
While DC have looked good in the middle order, the Sunrisers openers are much stronger and proved that with a 77 partnership in the last meeting between these two.
They hit another fifty between them last time out, while DC’s opening pairing (Dhawan with either Prithi Shaw or Ajinkya Rahane) have managed just 41 runs combined across their last six matches, and going 0/1 in three of their last four so we’ll go with the Sunrisers to get off to the better start.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Highest Opening Partnership At 4/5
