England To Beat Sri Lanka
Failing to win this one means the Sri Lankans have now won just two of their last nine test series, while on this ground they’ve lost three of their last five tests despite this being home soil.
There’s very little going for the Sri Lankan side at the moment as confidence seems extremely low. Lahiru Thirimanne showed good fight in managing 111 in his second innings, though to say that’s an anomaly would ring true considering it’s his first century in his last 55 innings, and his average of 23.74 is nothing marvel at.
The visitors have by far the more superior batting line-up, in both quality and form with talent and runs all over the park, so it’s hard to see why they are such a long price to get a much-needed series win before heading to India for a more challenging test.
Lasith Embuldeniya Sri Lankan Top Bowler
The first test followed trend in demonstrating the use of spin on this wicket. Indeed, Jack Leech and Dom Bess both produced five-fors despite not bowling at their best and it’s spin that leads the market for the top bowlers again this time round.
It’s difficult to predict which England bowler will come out on top, though there are signs that Lasith Embuldeniya is the danger man for the hosts.
The 24-year-old opened in both innings and dismissed both of England’s openers on each occasion, so there’s no reason he can’t do so again here.
He was their brightest spark with the ball despite not posting the best figures, though we’d expect a shift for this test, and he’ll be there go-to man.
