Spurs picked up their first away win of the season as they cruised past Red Star Belgrade 4-0 in the Champions League to put them in a strong position to qualify from Group B along with Bayern.
Though that won’t do much for their domestic hopes aside from instilling some confidence, and Chris Wilder’s side have proven to be tricky customers since their return to the top-flight.
Sheffield Utd are yet to record back-to-back results so far this season, though they are starting to find a touch of consistency as they are now unbeaten in their last four matches.
More impressively they remain unbeaten on the road this season drawing four of their five games as they now sit five places above their hosts this weekend in sixth.
Wilder has built a reputation for resolute defending, with his charges boasting the joint best defensive record in the league in last season’s Championship, while they remarkably lead the race for that accolade this year with Leicester, so the Lilywhites’ will be hard pushed to find the net.
However, only Crystal Palace have a worse output than the newly promoted side of all teams outside the bottom six, so it’s no wonder eight of their 11 matches have seen a maximum of two goals, while only visiting an open Chelsea side at Stamford Bridge have they seen more than that tally on their travels.
Under 2.5 Goals
Mauricio Pochettino’s men have however only seen the same outcome in two of their five home matches this season, though the 3-1 scoreline hosting Villa on the opening day came courtesy of a last gasp brace from Harry Kane, while their 2-1 victory over the Saints was largely down to there being just 21 men on the field for 59 minutes.
Both sides rank in the bottom half of the table for shots per game, with the Blades down in 19th in this regard, so we’re happy to go with the ‘Unders’ market on this one at odds-against.
The outright market is a tantalizing prospect when looking at the visitors’ price, but with four draws in their five unbeaten away games, they have run a fine line so far.
They’ve required last gasp equalizers to draw at Bournemouth and Chelsea, while they rode their luck against the Hammers and were held by rock-bottom Watford, so their bound to slip up at some point and we’ll avoid them here knowing the firepower Spurs have at their disposal, though the hosts offer up amazingly little value too.
