Georgia, as expected, have been ticking along nicely in the 2021 Rugby Europe Championship, currently 15 points clear of the rest of the pack after winning every game to crown themselves as champions for the fourth successive season.
However, their opposition in those fixtures has been well below the standard they’ll be up against in this next fixture.
They did lose to all of Wales, Fiji and Australia at the 2019 World Cup, but the maximum margin they lost by there was a disappointing 35 points against the Fijians and given their next opponents haven’t had any time to play together in such a long time, we’d be surprised if we saw a deficit of that magnitude.
In fact, against Tier One nations (excluding Italy and Japan) Georgia have lost all 24 encounters this century, although only five times from their 21 such outings since 2007 have they lost by more than 39 points.

The coaching responsibilities for the Springboks has been handed over to Jacques Nienaber, previously the assistant coach at the last World Cup.
Rassie Erasmus returns to his old role as the director of rugby and that does leave a few questions to be answered about where this side are currently at in their progression.
Obviously, they’re still the number one side in the world rankings, but we wouldn’t get too carried away by that or their performances from a year and a half ago.
No doubt, the South African’s should be firm favourites given the strong side they have named for this Test, but we think the current handicap line looks a little steep.
With that in mind, the Georgians look the team to get behind on the handicap with them having already played six games together this year.
