Recent Form
Both of these sides are enjoying fantastic campaigns. Slavia Prague are 10 points clear at the top of the Czech Liga having dropped just six points all season, while Leicester are up to third in the Premier League table and are still going strong in the FA Cup.
The Foxes will be particularly high on confidence after a hugely successful week, which saw them advance past Brighton into the FA Cup quarter finals before recording a deserved 3-1 victory to all but end Liverpool’s increasingly faint title hopes.
Leicester have only lost once in 14 outings now, though Brendan Rodgers will have to shuffle his squad with a number of players unavailable here.
Dennis Praet, Wesley Fofana, Timothy Castagne and James Justin are all unavailable through injury, while Ayoze Perez is a doubt and veteran Wes Morgan wasn’t included in Leicester’s Europa League squad.
However, Rodgers does have Ricardo Pereira and Caglar Soyuncu back in the fold and has enough reserves in depth to field a good team.
The likes of Nampalys Mendy, Kelechi Iheanacho, Christian Fuchs and Cengiz Under could come into the line-up here, with Jamie Vardy and Wilfried Ndidi likely to be given a rest having only recently returned from injuries.
Slavia Prague have also been rarely defeated of late, with just one loss from 19 appearances since late October. That was a heavy 4-0 thumping away at Leverkusen in December, but they’ve since won nine of 10 unbeaten matches to get back on track.
The Czech outfit’s domestic rivals might not compare favourably with Leicester, but the hosts were tested in the group stages with decent opponents.
In fact, they won all three home encounters with Leverkusen (1-0), Nice (3-2) and Hapoel Be’er Sheva (3-0), while previous results in Europe suggest they’re no cannon fodder.
Under 2.5 Goals
In 2018/19 they managed a pair of 2-2 draws in the Last 16 against Europa League kings Sevilla, before losing narrowly twice to Chelsea in the quarter finals as they went down 1-0 at home to a late goal and fought back from three goals down to finish 4-3 at Stamford Bridge.
They struggled last year in the Champions League having been drawn in the group of death alongside Barcelona, Dortmund and Inter, but they still managed to score in two of three home games.
Slavia Prague are without key midfielder Petr Sevcik, who has been sidelined since December with ligament damage, but their recent form demonstrates that they remain a dangerous outfit and they’re not short on firepower.
Forward trio Abdallah Sima (14), Jan Kuchta (13) and Peter Olayinka (10) have all been amongst the goals this season, with the former drawing comparisons with Thierry Henry and being linked with a switch to Arsenal.
Given five of Slavia Prague’s six group stage matches featured at least three goals, while Leicester’s backline is looking a little thin with those absent players, over 2.5 goals makes sense here.
