CHELSEA, MAN CITY AND EVERTON ALL TO WIN AT 7/2!
Recent Form
It’s been a phenomenal week or so for Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton side as having gone on a run of one win from seven matches, they’ve now picked up maximum points from their last three against Chelsea, Leicester, and Arsenal to place them in the top four on Christmas Day, and with those results under their belt this should, in theory, be a walk in the park for the Toffees.
Sheffield United have accrued the lowest points tally in Premier League history after 14 games and were desperately close to their first win of the campaign had it not been for Danny Welbeck’s late equaliser for Brighton last weekend.
Confidence must be at an all time low in the Blades’ camp at the moment and the last thing they need is to face an Everton side that look to be coming back into form, despite defeat in the League Cup to Man United.
Everton To Beat Sheffield United
It was Everton’s home form that took the plaudits last season when Ancelotti arrived, though in truth their away form under him hasn’t been as bad as it seems on the surface.
Despite being just W8-D2-L7 away from home, six of those defeats have come against top half sides which Sheffield United certainly are not for the time being, and they’ve not given any indication so far that they can pick up points against the better sides in the division.
What has been noticeable is how competitive they’ve been at Bramall Lane, with only one of their seven matches there being separated by more than a single strike, though in truth their form suggests they are far too short on the outright and the visitors show far greater value.
Everton To Win To Nil
Ancelotti took some time to sort out the defensive frailties caused by the injuries to Lucas Digne and Seamus Coleman, but by implementing a system whereby four centre backs took to the field with Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey forming makeshift fullbacks, they’ve looked far more solid.
They’ve conceded just once in their last three games, while it took Man United 88 minutes and a brilliant strike from Edinson Cavani to get through in midweek.
Everton To Win And Under 3.5 Goals
Chris Wilder’s side are the joint lowest scorers in the league this season, drawing a blank in half their games so far, so the win to nil is an interesting prospect at the prices.
The Blades remaining competitive would suggest a low-scoring affair, as has been the case in many of their matches this season.
Defeat and under 3.5 goals has paid out in 10 of their 14 matches so far, while the win and same goals outcome has been the case in each of Everton’s last three games.
