Sheffield United have enjoyed a spectacular start to life in the Premier League, with their 2-0 win at Goodison Park at the weekend lifting them into the upper half of the table. That was Chris Wilder’s charges first victory on the road this term, while at Bramall Lane they’ve won half their four encounters across all competitions, losing to both Leicester and Southampton.
That certainly isn’t anything to be ashamed of seeing as the Foxes currently hold third place in the table on goal difference, while Wilder has come out to say the 1-0 Saints defeat was due to their inability to maintain possession well, so they’ll be confident of correcting that and continuing their solid run of form.
Sunderland were agonisingly beaten in the League One play-off final last term, with Charlton’s winner coming in the 94th minute, but they have put themselves back in contention for promotion this time around.
Indeed, they’ve gone W6-D4-L1 from their 11 outings so far and although all but one of those fixtures came against League One sides, they still beat Burnley 3-1 on the road in the last round of this competition.
However, they’ve picked up just five points from their last four games since late August, including stalemates in each of the last two and seem to have hit a rough patch.

The Blades host Liverpool on Saturday and with Jurgen Klopp’s men in scintillating form, winning all six domestic matches so far, they’ll be conscious of not getting embarrassed.
With that in mind we’re likely to see a bit of rotation, but nothing too drastic given the excellent opportunity that has presented itself in this competition, as a win here would put them through to the Last 16.
Sheffield Utd have now won 10 of their 14 outings at Bramall Lane in all competitions dating back to early January, nine of which were without conceding and they look a class above their opponents for us.
The Black Cats have just one victory from their six trips to fellow top-six sides in League One across this season and last term, so they look worth taking on in the outright market at the prices.
However, we’ll avoid the win to nil seeing as they netted in all but one of those games, while only once have they failed to register this campaign against any team.
