The Blades weren’t expected to be competing in the top half of the table this season, though an unbeaten run of three games – including a win hosting Arsenal – has catapulted them up into dreamland.
Chris Wilder’s men have acquitted themselves well in the top flight and only went down 1-0 to Liverpool in their game prior to this run, but they won’t be getting carried away as they welcome Burnley to Bramall Lane with the middle of the table highly congested.
Both Teams To Score
Sean Dyche’s side may have lost their past two matches, but these were against high-flying Leicester and Chelsea, while prior to that they’d put together a four-game unbeaten run. Uncharacteristically, their games have featured quite a few goals.
Across all tournaments, seven of their 11 fixtures this term have seen at least three, with each exception coming against teams down in the bottom half, while both teams also found the net in seven of these too.
However, we wouldn’t expect this game to be awash with chances. In all competitions, each of Sheffield Utd’s past seven outings have seen fewer than three goals, while five of them saw just one strike or none at all.
There is however good reason to back both teams to find the net in this encounter. Burnley have seen that occur in all five of their road trips to date, losing at Arsenal and Leicester, while drawing with Wolves, Brighton and Villa.
Sheffield United And Burnley To Draw 1-1
Each of Burnley’s last six stalemates have in fact seen both teams find the net, and a similar outcome here would come as no surprise. Given that the Blades possess the best defensive record in the division alongside Liverpool and Leicester, the 1-1 draw is appealing should both sides register.
Lys Mousset To Score Last
Lys Mousset didn’t get much of a look in at Bournemouth with Callum Wilson, Joshua King and Dominic Solanke all ahead of him in the pecking order, while many had expected a similar outcome at Sheffield Utd.
Club captain Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick formed an effective partnership last season in the Championship, while Oli McBurnie was brought in from Swansea over the summer, but Mousset has taken his chances well and has three goals from 198 minutes of action this season. He’s only started one of their seven games however, with each of his three goals the last strike of the game.
Both Teams To Score (Yes) At 19/20
