Following a run of 10 defeats from 12 outings, Bournemouth have seemingly turned a corner with back-to-back victories over relegation rivals Brighton and Villa at the Vitality Stadium.
However, only rock-bottom Norwich have picked up fewer points per game on the road than those two sides, while Bournemouth have still lost six of seven matches on their own travels, despite five of these fixtures coming against bottom-half teams.
We wouldn’t be at all confident of the Cherries landing a positive result here then, let alone a win. When excluding the top three in the table, the Blades are an impressive W5-D2-L2 at Bramall Lane this term, with seven of these games featuring fewer than three goals.
In fact, home or away against anyone, an incredible 18 of Sheffield Utd’s last 21 matches have gone under that threshold, including each of the past nine.

Four of Bournemouth’s last five against teams above them in the table have seen under 2.5 goals land, and with these two playing out a 1-1 draw on the opening day of the season, we can envisage another low-scoring affair taking place here.
Sheffield Utd’s defensive record is only bettered by that of champions elect Liverpool, while prior to those wins over Brighton and Villa, Bournemouth had drawn a blank in seven of their past nine while scoring just two goals in total.
Eddie Howe will be mightily relieved his team no longer occupy a spot in the relegation zone, but it’s tight down the bottom as 15th and 19th are separated by just three points.
Wins in their last two at home can’t disguise their dreadful performances on the road, while home or away they’re still without a clean sheet in eight.

The team news doesn’t favour the visitors either. Whereas David McGoldrick is the only doubt for the Blades, Bournemouth continue to endure problems as they have all season.
Aside from those who have been out for some time, Jefferson Lerma has added another headache with a suspension to serve. Eddie Howe doesn’t have the greatest of cover for defensive midfield and he’ll miss the influence of his record signing.
Given seven of Sheffield Utd’s nine wins this season have come by 1-0 or 2-0 scorelines, with the former occurring five times including each of their past three victories, we wouldn’t be at all shocked to see them inflict the same on Bournemouth.
