Celtic are aiming for a fourth successive League Cup title at Hampden Park on Sunday, but while Aberdeen (twice) and Motherwell couldn’t lay a glove on them as the Hoops kept clean sheets in each of the three previous finals, Rangers stand a better chance of pushing them all the way.
Neil Lennon’s men have however won 11 on the trot as they arrive in excellent form. This spell has included impressive 2-1 wins both home and away against Lazio in Europe, as well as victories by three or more goals on five occasions.
Hamilton did come close to ending the streak on Wednesday with a 90th minute equaliser, only for captain Scott Brown to net a stoppage-time winner and seal the points.
Rangers have been mightily impressive this season too but will be disappointed not to have beaten Aberdeen midweek having been two goals to the good.
Although they should have been awarded a penalty, ultimately is was defensive lapses that were to blame for the dropped points and questions remain as to their best pairing at the back, with Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic and Filip Helander all vying for a starting spot.
Goldson and Helander both lack pace though and were poor on Wednesday, so the no nonsense Katic should expect to find himself drafted back in for this clash.

Celtic have won the sole head-to-head encounter this season, but since Steven Gerrard pitched up in Glasgow, there’s been a fairly even split as both sides won two games against each other last term.
Four of the five clashes in total have seen at least one team or the other fail to score, as those same four games all saw fewer than three goals.
Given cup finals have a tendency for teams to play cautiously, with nine of the last 12 in this tournament featuring a maximum of two goals over 90 minutes, backing ‘unders’ appears a smart play.
Celtic To Win
Neil Lennon should be boosted by the return of several players. He could have striker Odsonne Edouard, winger and Southampton loanee Mohamed Elyounoussi, as well as left-back Boli Bolingoli available for this clash.
Meanwhile, Steven Gerrard could be without the services of left-back Borna Barisic, though he does have John Flanagan to deputize.
However, Rangers’ struggles to find the right partnership at the back could well be the difference, and with Celtic possessing more cup final knowhow after clearing up in recent seasons, we’d back the Hoops to engrave their name on the trophy again.
