Both these sides played out 120 minutes of football before winning their penalty shootouts and are now just one game away from qualifying for the Euros next summer.
Though while the shootout provided a lot of excitement, neither Scotland’s game against Israel nor Slovakia’s matchup with Ireland mustered up a single goal across normal or extra time, and we wouldn’t exactly expect a goal fest here either.

While Steve Clarke will likely rotate after a draining performance, we’d still expect a strong side out as the last thing they need is to be relegated from their group. They’re now unbeaten in six games having lost four on the trot to Belgium and Russia by a combined scoreline of 13-1, and they’ll be coming into this in high spirits.
They’ve scored 14 goals across those six matches and although that’s quite a high total, 11 of those came against San Marino (6), Cyprus (2) and Kazakhstan (3), so we’d expect Slovakia to have a bit more resolve.
Slovakia have won just one of their last seven matches over 90 minutes now, coming out with a draw in four of those despite not playing anyone too daunting.
Both teams have found the net in five of those games, with the exceptions coming in that dour stalemate with Ireland on Thursday and the other as they comfortably saw off a weak Azerbaijan outfit.
They too will fly to Glasgow in good spirits, and with both sides playing with confidence it wouldn’t be a shock to see both grab a goal. Ireland were only the second side to stop the Slovaks from netting in 11 games now, with the other being a Croatia outfit who are much stronger defensively than the Scots.
This will only be the third meeting between these two sides, with the head to heads evenly balanced at one a piece so that record is up for grabs.
The Repre have now lost eight of their last 12 away matches, and while Hampden Park can be a daunting place to go, the lack of fans will work against Steve Clarke’s men on this occasion, and the outright looks worth avoiding on this occasion.
