Steve Clarke has endured a relatively torrid start to life as Scotland Manager, since a narrow 2-1 home win over Cyprus on his debut his side have gone on to lose four on the trot, two apiece to Belgium and Russia culminating in 4-0 drubbings, with the last coming on Thursday night.
However, there’s no better opportunity for Clarke and his men to get back to winning ways than against a San Marino side that got taken to the cleaners when eight Belgians managed to find the net in a 9-0 demolition.

The reverse fixture in this group saw Scotland come out on top 2-0 in what was Alex McLeish’s last game in charge, having suffered an embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Kazakhstan not three days prior, and Scotland don’t seem to make light work of many teams in qualifying either.
Only thrice have they put more than three goals on a side in their 59 qualifying matches since the start of their campaign to make the Euro 2000 finals, and that was when they managed six both home and away against a Gibraltar side who hadn’t even played enough football to warrant a world ranking at the time, and a 169th ranked Faroe Islands outfit.
Of those 59 games as many as 25 of them came against minnows Cyprus, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Gibraltar, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, Lithuania and San Marino themselves, so we feel the market flatters Scotland a bit here.

When ignoring the top sides Belgium, England and Netherlands, the Sammarinese have only lost by more than four goals in four of their last 14 euro qualifiers since October 2011, as 10 also saw fewer than five goals too.
Couple that with Scotland’s recent results they certainly won’t be coming into this one breaming with confidence, so we’re inclined to back ‘Unders’ at the prices. Moreover, we don’t expect the visitors to find the net at Hampden Park having failed to do so in 66 of their 73 Euro qualifiers to date, including just once from their last 28.
