Sampdoria lost 2-0 away at Juventus on Sunday, crowning the Old Lady champions, though this was only the second time where they’d failed to score in 15 appearances, and they should be able to get back onto the scoresheet when hosting Milan.
The Rossoneri only conceded once when facing Serie A’s top scorers Atalanta at the weekend, though in reality there could easily have been more goals in that encounter, and it leaves Stefan Pioli’s men without a clean sheet in six now.
Admittedly, they haven’t had it easy having also played Juventus and Napoli at the beginning of this run, but 3-1, 5-1 and 2-1 victories over Parma, Bologna and Sassuolo respectively demonstrate that they’ve not exactly been watertight in defence.
Still, Milan carry some considerable momentum having won seven of 11 unbeaten fixtures since the restart in all competitions.
The four stalemates came in clashes with Juventus, SPAL, Napoli and last time out against Atalanta, while they’ve also beaten the likes of Roma, Lazio and Juventus over this impressive period as well.

With that in mind, the visitors appear the likely winners here. Indeed, Sampdoria are yet to beat a team eighth or higher in the league this season, losing 11 out of 15, including all five since February by a combined 12-4 scoreline.
Nine of the 15 matches saw them trail at both half-time and full-time, though we’d avoid that market with Milan not the best at taking first half leads and a fairly unattractive price.
Claudio Ranieri will be glad to have centre-back Omar Colley and bit part player Ronaldo Vieira back from suspensions, but he remains without key defensive midfielder Albin Ekdal.
They’re just W1-D2-L6 when the 30-year-old Swede has been absent from the starting line-up this season, with the sole win coming over relegated Brescia, though they did still find the net in five of these defeats as three of them finished 2-1.
Meanwhile, Milan don’t have quite so many unavailable this week. They coped well with a lengthy injury list last time out, though defenders Alessio Romagnoli, Mateo Musacchio and Andrea Conti remain sidelined, so the chance are that they’ll still concede a consolation effort.

Although nine of the past 10 head-to-heads in all competitions have seen fewer than three goals, that record stretches back into 2015/16 and these sides are rather different now.
Milan are exciting going forwards for the first time in a few years, with both teams to score landing in eight of their last 10 fixtures as eight also saw at least three goals.
Meanwhile, 13 of Sampdoria’s last 15 have seen a minimum of three goals, and with four of their six defeats since June ending 2-1, and the other two 2-0, the former looks a tasty proposition.
