Rugby Autumn Internationals - Week Three Betting Preview

What a weekend of rugby that was. Week two of the Rugby Autumn Internationals saw some incredibly close encounters, with just two of the six matches settled by a score line of more than seven points.

England’s rout of Australia was surprisingly the biggest winning margin, whilst Georgia put in a brave performance to give Wales a scare by being within a converted try at the close. Meanwhile at Murrayfield, a Stuart Hogg-inspired Scotland were left disappointed not to capitalise on their strong spells against the All Blacks.

The final set of fixtures this weekend promises some more great matchups. Look no further for all your rugby betting needs. Whilst the Wallabies will be out to put their heavy defeat at Twickenham behind them in Edinburgh on Saturday, Scotland are playing some outstanding rugby and look good value at 17/10 to get the win.

There was no love lost between Eddie Jones and Michael Cheika at Twickenham, and expect much of the same at the Principality Stadium as Warren Gatland and his Wales side face up against the All Blacks. It’s the first time Gatland will go against his fellow countryman Steve Hansen since the closely contested Lions Tour this summer.

You have to go back to December 1953 for the last time that Wales won against New Zealand. Expect a closer affair than the 46-6 score line the All Blacks won by in last year’s clash, and Wales still appear a bit of a reach at 10/1 to break the losing run this weekend, especially with Liam Williams and Alex Cuthbert ruled out.

England, on the other hand, will be looking to kick on from their hugely impressive win against Australia with another assured performance against Samoa. Eddie Jones will want to avoid complacency amongst the squad and attach World Cup significance to this tie ahead of their pool match against another Pacific Island team, Tonga, at the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

Elsewhere this weekend, South Africa will want a vastly improved performance against Italy after an error-strewn victory against France last time out. Ireland, meanwhile, were lucky to escape with a win against Fiji, and can’t afford a repeat performance against a spirited Argentina side.

The final game in week 3 sees France host Japan in Paris. Despite a convincing win against Tonga last weekend, Japan coach Jamie Joseph will be well aware that France is a step up in quality. That said, it is just the sort of test he’ll want ahead of next year’s World Cup.
