Kings XI came out on the wrong side of this season’s first Super Over in their opening match against Delhi Capitals. Mayank Agarwal continued to fight for his side but had little in the way of support as he notched 89 runs off 60 deliveries, with debutant captain KL Rahul the next highest scorer on just 21 (19), so they’ll need to up their game if they want to topple RCB.

The Royal Challengers showed the power of their batting lineup in their opener against Sunrisers Hydrabad.

Young opener Devdutt Padikall showcased what the hype has been about with a beautifully played 56, while a lineup with the likes of Aaron Finch, Virat Kholi and AB de Villiers is always going to threaten runs. 51 (30) for the South African number four helped reach a total of 164 before they bowled out the Jonny Bairstow inspired Sunrisers for 153.

Bowling at the death overs has been a problem for RCB over the past two seasons, with an economy rate in those overs 11.87 and 11.34 in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

That’s why Yuzvendra Chahal’s 3-18 in their opener was so important as his wickets of Bairstow and Vijay Shankar in successive deliveries triggered the collapse and ultimately earned his side the win, though they can’t be reliant on the spinner all the time.

RCB To Beat The Kings XI

With that said, they still managed to become the first side to bowl their opposition out and Shivam Dube (2-15) and Navdeep Saini (2-25) also put in stellar displays with the ball.

If RCB can keep this level of balance, they could be a side to be reckoned with this year, and we’re happy to get behind them in this contest as favourites.
