Recent Form
These two are assured of progression already, but Inter can leapfrog Real Madrid with a victory and steal first place. Both sides enter this clash in excellent form, though it remains to be seen if Carlo Ancelotti will pick a full-strength team with a crunch encounter against Atletico Madrid coming up at the weekend.
Dani Ceballos and Gareth Bale were already absent, but Real have been handed a huge blow with key man Karim Benzema suffering a hamstring complaint at the weekend.
Luka Jovic came on in his stead and was involved in both goals, so it will be a big night for the largely forgotten Serbian as he seeks to reignite his Real Madrid career.
Casemiro and Ferland Mendy are both a booking away from suspension, so veteran Marcelo or youngster Eduardo Camavinga could potentially be handed starts.
Elsewhere, it would be no surprise if Lucas Vazquez came in for Dani Carvajal at right-back, or if Luka Modric was handed a rest with Federico Valverde coming into the side.
Simone Inzaghi has a greater number of absentees however, with striker Joaquin Correa joining defenders Andrea Ranocchia, Stefan de Vrij, Aleksandar Kolarov and Matteo Darmian on the sidelines, as well as long-term absentee Christian Eriksen.
There’s unlikely to be many changes from the team that beat Roma at the weekend, though Lautaro Martinez should be restored to the attack, while Arturo Vidal, Stefano Sensi and Alexis Sanchez will hope for greater involvement.
Real Madrid Draw No Bet
Inter are in a great vein of form having lost just two games all season, against Lazio and Real Madrid themselves.
They’re currently on an 11-game unbeaten streak as nine of them ended in victory, as only Juventus and AC Milan took points off them, while the likes of Napoli and Roma went down to defeat.
However, Real Madrid are also unbeaten in 11 appearances heading into this fixture, winning 10 of these games. That includes each of the past eight, as the last three have seen them take on Sevilla, Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad, leaving them eight points clear at the top domestically.
Real Madrid certainly have the big-game experience in their team and their record in Europe suggests they should have too much for their visitors.
They’ve actually played Inter three times since the start of last season, having being paired in last term’s group stages as well, with Los Blancos running out winners on every occasion.
In fact, Inter are just W1-D1-L7 against Spanish teams since 2018/19, as the sole win came over Getafe in the 2019/20 Europa League.
