LEICESTER, SPURS AND MILAN ALL TO WIN AT 11/4
Recent Form
Rangers moved six points clear of domestic rivals Celtic at the weekend and there’s a growing feeling that they’re not just headed in the right direction under Steven Gerrard, but that they can actually compete for the title.
They’ve now won 13 of their last 15 unbeaten matches in all competitions, registering 12 clean sheets as they also won by a minimum two-goal margin in 12 of these as well. Each of the last four outings have finished 2-0, and with such consistency behind them, they look in good shape to welcome Leach Poznan to Ibrox.
Indeed, on home turf alone the Gers have won all seven matches this term by a combined 18-1 scoreline, as Galatasaray were the only side to avoid being beaten by more than a single goal – and even they required an 87th-minute consolation effort to avoid that same fate.
Rangers have continually impressed in Europe under current management and in fact they’re W13-D4-L1 on home turf alone since 2017/18, as the sole defeat came against Leverkusen in the knockouts last term.
They kept clean sheets in over half these games, while in the group stages alone their last five such matches have seen a meagre total of just five goals.
The visitors could certainly have arrived at this fixture in better form with just one win from three winless matches, including a 4-2 defeat hosting Group D favourites Benfica. The defence gives cause for concern, though they haven’t had problems finding the net themselves.
Both teams have actually scored in each of their past five outings now, and we’d be wary of the home clean sheet given Poznan have found the net at least once in each of their last 19 matches since late June, with both teams scoring in 15 of these.
Indeed, the Polish outfit have scored twice at a minimum themselves in nine of their past 11 appearances. However, aside from Benfica, none of the other sides they’ve faced domestically or in Europa League play-offs are up to the standard currently being set by Rangers.
Rangers To Win 1-0, 2-0, 2-1
Given the low-scoring nature of most of Rangers’ European matches, combined with their form so far in the new campaign, we’d have to get behind them in some manner.
The consistency with which they’ve collected clean sheets makes the win to nil an option, but given Poznan usually fire one back even in defeat, the multibet option allows a little cover in case of the consolation effort. Poznan have scored in all but one of 10 defeats since August 2019, as seven of these finished 2-1.
