Rangers bounced back from their 3-0 humbling in the Old Firm derby to thump third-placed Hearts 5-0, keeping them on the coattails of Celtic in the title race. The return of Alfredo Morelos from international duty certainly aided the cause, with the Colombian bagging the first two goals, while a clean sheet was also a welcome sight.
The Gers had conceded three times not just to Celtic, but also in their previous game at Ross County, though the latest result against Hearts keeps up their strong record at Ibrox under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
They’ve won every single one of their eight matches there under the Dutchman across all competitions, without even conceding a solitary goal, and they’ll expect to maintain that record against an underperforming Hibernian.
The visitors are yet to really get going since the turn of the year. Their sole victory has come over third-tier outfit Cove Rangers in extra time, while in the league alone, they’ve lost three of five winless games and failed to score in four of these.
Hibs have picked up just two wins from their past 11 away days in the league, while they failed to score in four of their five defeats over this period.
Rangers To Win To Nil
Martin Boyle’s January exit has undeniably denied them some attacking thrust. The winger remains their top scorer this season having netted 14 times and assisted a further five goals from 28 appearances across all competitions, including a hat-trick when Hibs and Rangers squared off in the League Cup semi-finals.
Their only other player to reach double figures for goal involvements, Kevin Nisbet, has been poor in his output over the past couple of months, and should find himself joined in attack by Christian Doidge.
That League Cup meeting between the two sides came when Rangers were between managers and although the Gers have some convincing to do on their travels, their home form should provide the confidence to get behind them.
They have since beaten Hibs 1-0 at the beginning of December at Easter Road, and back at Ibrox they should come out on top with a clean sheet in tact.
