Rangers have exceeded all expectations this season and domestically, they’ve won 17 of 20 matches in all competitions prior to visiting St. Johnstone on Wednesday.
In the league alone it’s 16 wins from 18 unbeaten fixtures, and after their first and only defeat to St. Mirren, they responded well with a 3-1 triumph over Motherwell.
The runaway leaders do need to stay on their toes with Celtic handed a boost from their quadruple treble.
However, even in the unlikely event that Rangers were to slip up on the road to St. Johnstone, the sheer consistency with which both results and performances have been delivered this season would suggest they’d get back on track here.
That’s especially the case given Rangers have been phenomenal on home turf this season and across all competitions, they’ve won 12 of 13 unbeaten games, as only Benfica were able to hold them to a stalemate.
Steven Gerrard’s men scored at least twice in all but one of these matches, including a whopping 20 across their last five since November.
Unsurprisingly, with Rangers recording a ridiculous number of clean sheets this season, they’ve often been good for the win to nil. However, while the output hasn’t dried up, failure to shut out Dundee United, St. Mirren and Motherwell in their past three outings leaves that market unattractive against dangerous opposition.
Hibs are enjoying a fine season and have established themselves in a clear top four, battling with Aberdeen below the Old Firm duo. Prior to hosting St. Mirren, they’ve strung together an unbeaten run of eight games in all competitions, although three of the five victories came over lower-division outfits in the League Cup.

Still, Hibs have only suffered defeat three times in the Premiership this season and just once in their last nine, so definitely represent a potential banana skin for the Gers.
Those defeats were however inflicted by Aberdeen (twice) and Celtic, as their only other top-four encounter this season saw them claim a point at home to Rangers themselves.
Gerrard oversaw victories in all three encounters last term by a combined 11-2 scoreline, so his side should get the job done.
The home factor swings us behind Rangers to cover the handicap. Eight of Hibs’ 10 away defeats since the start of last season have come by at least two clear goals, while at Ibrox, Rangers have won by that margin or greater in all nine league games this season.
