Recent Form
Rangers may have a game in hand over Celtic, but their title hopes are looking increasingly slim after dropping points over the past week and a half.
A shock defeat away at a then rock-bottom Hearts and a stalemate at home to Aberdeen has left them seven points off the pace, so if they’re to maintain pressure on their Old Firm rival they’ll need the full three points on offer here.
We wouldn’t expect those recent blips to affect the hosts too much. Rangers have still won seven of nine matches across all competitions since mid-December, while on home turf alone they’re W21-D2-L2 since the start of April.
They kept 18 clean sheets across these (17 win to nils and one goalless stalemate), so they should have more than enough about them back at Ibrox to take the spoils.
Rangers To Win To Nil
Hibs acquitted themselves well against Rangers last term, with all four clashes featuring fewer than three goals as all but one ended in a stalemate.
However, the Gers have taken giant strides forward in Steven Gerrard’s second season at the helm, and the two encounters in the current campaign have seen his side run out 6-1 and 3-0 winners, with the former coming at Ibrox.
Rangers have missed a bit of a spark in the final third since the turn of the year, but Alfredo Morelos returned to the starting line-up last weekend and they should only need the one goal to put this game to bed.
Hibs are unbeaten in five outings across all competitions in 2020 so far, though two of these were cup clashes with Championship side Dundee United, while their sole win across the other three fixtures came over new bottom team Hamilton.
Limiting their results to those against the five teams above them in the table, they’ve failed to score in four outings, including either 2-0 or 3-0 losses to Celtic, Rangers and Livingston.
Away from home, Hibs have lost a poor 10 of 13 winless league trips to top-five outfits since the start of last season, also trailing at the break in 10 of these and failing to score in nine.
The win to nil appears profitable then, though the W/W HT/FT double – although tempting – isn’t appetizing enough at the prices.
