Hearts may have beaten St. Mirren 5-2 at home since Austin MacPhee replaced Craig Levein in the dugout, but they’ve lost 3-0 in their other two fixtures under him, away at Kilmarnock in their most recent outing and at Hampden Park against Rangers in the League Cup.
Steven Gerrard’s side put three past Hearts in both fixtures at Ibrox last term, and there’s been precious little evidence to suggest that they’re about to run dry in attack during the current campaign.
The Gers have essentially kept pace with Celtic at the top of the standings in Gerrard’s second season, scoring 38 times to their Glaswegian rivals’ 40, while shipping eight goals compared to the Hoops’ seven.
At Ibrox alone they’ve scored at least five times in half their league fixtures, while up against teams beyond the top five, they’ve netted a minimum of three goals in 11 of 14 home games since the start of last season and four or more in half.

Given Rangers have won five of six unbeaten encounters with Hearts since the start of last season, with four of these by at least two clear goals, we’d expect them to maintain that kind of output and register at least three on the board.
Indeed, when travelling to the Old Firm duo and a consistently high-placed Aberdeen, Hearts have lost all eight trips since the start of last season and conceded 23 times in total.
Rangers To Win To Nil
It’s not just up front where Rangers have registered impressive numbers. Going back to March, they’ve won to nil in 12 of 17 competitive home matches across all competitions, in addition to such wins over Derby, a virtually full-strength Marseille team and Oxford Utd during pre-season.
One of the exceptions came against Celtic, while they only conceded the solitary strike on the other four occasions where they failed to register a clean sheet.
Rangers To Win 3-0
Given Hearts have now failed to score in each of their past five matches away from Tynecastle, losing without scoring in the past three, the home win to nil looks a sure thing.
However, given they’ve shipped exactly three goals on a consistent basis against Rangers, as well as in four of their five defeats on the road since the beginning of August, we’re also inclined to have a little flutter on the 3-0 correct score that’s landed in their last two trips.
