Recent Form
Confidence must be low in the Knight Riders camp after a defeat to the Rajasthan Royals has left them rock bottom of the table with just one win from their opening five outings so far.
A lot of that has been down to the form of their top order batsmen, who haven’t quite managed to get to grips with the season yet as Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi’s respective 37.2 and 25.4 averages are the most KKR have to show for their form with the bat, while Eoin Morgan’s average of nine needs to drastically improve if they want to come out on top.
Punjab Kings To Win
The Kings have a much better balance to their side and KL Rahul in particular has been in tremendous form, with only Shikhar Dhawan scoring more runs in the IPL this year. His strike rate has come under criticism though, and there may be a temptation to include Dawid Malan in the side for this one considering the change to Ahmedabad, where Malan managed a 68 in his last innings here for England back in March, while he’s managed a strike rate of over 100 in four of his five innings on this surface.
This pitch will ultimately favour the batsmen, even if the bigger boundaries limit that. PK look to have the more aggressive and dominant batting line-up at this point in time, so we’ll side with them to close the gap on the three runaway sides at the top.
