Spurs vs Chelsea -Betting Preview

Just one point separates the two sides ahead of this London derby

What better way to get back into Premier League action following an International break than with a derby. Chelsea travel to Wembley for a late Saturday afternoon kick-off, with the teams sitting third and fourth in the table respectively - two wins behind Man City at the top.

Cause for Concern?

In 52 Premier League meetings between the two sides, Tottenham have just six wins over Chelsea. There is hope for Spurs fans though as two of those wins have come in the last five fixtures.

In those last two league victories for Tottenham over Chelsea, Dele Alli has scored twice in each match. You can get Alli to score first at 11/1.

Chelsea, however, are on a great run against Spurs at Wembley with four wins in a row in all competitions, including 13 goals in the process. Last time Tottenham hosted Chelsea at Wembley, the Blues won 2-1 courtesy of a Marcos Alonso double. Alonso to score anytime is worth a look at Premier League betting odds of 11/2.

Familiar Faces

Martin Atkinson will be the referee in charge at Wembley – an appointment Chelsea fans will no doubt be pleased about as Atkinson was the same referee that oversaw Chelsea’s 4-2 FA Cup semi-final win over Spurs in 2017.

Harry Kane has netted three goals in his last three games in all competitions for his club, adding to that whilst on international duty with England. After a barren spell by his standards, Kane appears to have found his clinical edge again – back the frontman to be first goal scorer at 10/3.

Chelsea head into the match still unbeaten this season in the league after 12 game weeks. Tottenham could be the side to inflict a first league for Chelsea defeat under Maurizio Sarri – it was Mauricio Pochettino’s men that ended the Blues’ 13-game unbeaten run under Antonio Conte.

Spurs themselves are looking to build on a run of six wins from their last seven league games, with a sole loss coming against table toppers Manchester City.

The Spaniard

If 8/5 fancied Chelsea are to get the win on Saturday, Alvaro Morata is likely to have a say. The Spanish forward has scored three times in the Blues’ last two victories, returning to form after a spell where he seemed out of sorts. The recent backing he received from his manager will do wonders for the 26-year-old’s confidence.

If recent history is anything to go by, we can expect goals at Wembley. In the last six meetings between the two sides, 22 goals have been scored. Over 3.5 goals at 17/10 is a tempting offer.
