Parma Solid On Their Return Last Season
Parma were solid on their return to Serie A last season and after the first four weeks, during which time they had to face both Juve and Inter, they never dipped below 15th in the standings.
However, the bottom half of the table was severely congested and they only picked up three points more than relegated Empoli, while at the other end Juve were once again the standout team as they finished 11 points clear of Napoli and 21 ahead of third-placed Atalanta.
There was a clear gap in Serie A between the top nine and bottom 11 last term in the end. Against the latter, Juve won 18 of 22 matches, though they did concede in half of those games overall.
Parma were able to register a goal in a 2-1 defeat in this exact fixture early last season, while they followed that up with a Gervinho-inspired 3-3 draw in the reverse encounter, but they did lose nine of 12 clashes with the top-six finishers over the course of the season.

Juventus have taken the Serie A crown in each of the past eight seasons, opening their account with a win on matchday one on seven occasions, though only once in the past six seasons has that victory come by more than the single strike.

Meanwhile, Juve have made a change in the dugout, but ‘Sarri-ball’ can take a while for players to get to grips with and as there are new signings to incorporate into the team as well, there could be the possibility that it doesn’t all click immediately for the Old Lady.

They certainly haven’t pulled up any trees in pre-season, suffering defeats to Spurs and Atletico Madrid, sandwiching a draw with Inter, before only managing a 1-0 win over third-tier outfit Triestina in their last outing – despite fielding arguably their best team minus Cristiano Ronaldo and Matthijs de Ligt.
However, it’s hard to look past the champions and a repeat of the narrow 2-1 scoreline in this fixture last term appeals at the prices. Indeed, four of the past seven head-to-head meetings have seen Juve triumph by just one strike dating back to November 2013, with one draw and Parma running out 1-0 winners in another.
