Recent Form
The two bottom sides in the league go head-to-head in a crucial match for both managers. Quique Sanchez Flores is still searching for his first win upon his return to the helm at Vicarage Road, while Daniel Farke needs to relieve the slight pressure building on his role as they are now winless in six since that spectacular 3-2 victory over Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions, so it’s all to play for in the Friday night kick off.
The Canaries have stark goalscoring contrast in their home and away form. They are goalless in their last five on the road since Teemu Pukki found the net at Anfield in the opening game of the season, though they are managing to average two goals per game at Carrow Road, having scored in all five fixtures there so far and have seen an average of a whopping 4.8 goals per game on home turf.
Watford have managed to keep it tighter since that 8-0 demolition at the hands of Man City, seeing an average of just 1.4 match goals per game from their five outings since.
With both teams likely to be low on confidence heading into Friday, it’s something of a lottery to predict who is going to dictate play here, so we’ll avoid the total goals market and look elsewhere.
Norwich To Win
With Farke determined to keep to his style of football in the Premier League, we can definitely see Norwich finding the net, although how many times depends on which Hornets side show up on the night.
Indeed, the likes of Pukki and Todd Cantwell have multiple goals this season for the hosts, though Watford can’t boast a single player who’s found the net more than once in the league this year, so there is an obvious lack of threat at the sharp end for them.
That’s exasperated by their two goals in their last six outings in all competitions, and even their latest was through a controversial VAR penalty decision.
The newly promoted side have taken the lead twice in their five games at home this season and both those times they’ve gone on to claim the full three points, while Watford have fallen behind in seven of their 11 matches so far, going on to lose six of seven winless outings when they have done so.
If Farke’s charges can take the lead, we think they should be able to see out the game, and we’re happy to back them as underdogs in their own back yard.
