Nicola Adams vs Isabel Millan - Boxing Betting Preview

The interim WBO world super-flyweight title is on the line this Saturday as Britain’s Nicola Adams steps into the ring against Mexico’s Isabel Millan as part of a loaded card, headlined by an all-British bout between Jack Catterall and Ohara Davies.

Leicester Arena plays host to the two-time Olympic champion’s fifth professional fight as she comes up against the younger but more professionally experienced Millan.

A Step Up

Adams has fought just 11 rounds in the pro ranks, with all four of her professional fights coming within the last two years. The 35-year-old has a knockout record of 75 per cent in those bouts and faces an in-form Millan for what is her first shot at a title since switching from the amateur ranks.

Her 33-year-old opponent has 27 fights in a seven-year career, spanning 183 rounds in total. Despite having a modest knockout record of 30 per cent, the Mexican fighter has won three fights on the bounce and will arrive in Leicester full of confidence that she can take down the undefeated Adams.

Home Favourite

This is Adams’ first fight since her first-round win over Argentina’s Soledad del Valle Frias at Elland Road in her hometown Leeds back in May. A win for the 1/50 favourite against 28/1 outside shot Millan would open her up to a shot at the WBO world super-flyweight title against Germany’s Raja Amasheh.

Adams has talked this week of her desire to knock out Millan, a step she believes will help her to claim all the belts in the division and propel her onto the biggest stage where she can eventually headline fights at the MGM Grand in in Las Vegas and Wembley Stadium.

?The Lioness? faces without doubt the toughest test of her young pro career against the former WBF world flyweight champion. The Mexican boxer’s record stands at 22 wins, four losses and one draw. Adams will hope teaming up with trainer Dominic Ingle in Sheffield has prepared her well enough to maintain an unblemished record.

The Main Event

In the headline fight, Jack Catterall believes he will get the better of Ohara Davies by outsmarting his opponent and nullifying the devastating right hand ?Two Tanks? possesses. Catterall is undefeated in 22 fights and with two of his last three victories coming via knockout, boxing odds of 10/3 for El Gato to get another here seems good value. That said, Davies’ only loss came at the hands of Josh Taylor last July when he was forced to retire due to breathing difficulties. 14 of the Hackney fighter’s 18 victories have come via knockout and you can back another KO this weekend at 14/5.
