Palace are unbeaten in four outings now after talisman Wilfried Zaha rescued a point against bitter rivals Brighton, but while that was enough to take them back into the top half of the table, in truth the Seagulls had been the better side.
The Eagles produced a goalless stalemate with rock-bottom Watford and beat a Bournemouth side in dire form 1-0 in their previous two games, so they’re hardly firing on all cylinders at present.

Although Newcastle suffered defeat at Burnley last time out, they had won two of three unbeaten matches prior to that and results at St. James’ Park have been more fruitful for them.
In fact, all but one of the Magpies’ seven defeats this term have come away from home, as the exception came on the opening day of the season as they went down narrowly to Arsenal.
Back on Tyneside, Steve Bruce’s men have won three of seven unbeaten matches since that loss on matchday one, including a win over Man Utd and stalemates with both Wolves and Man City.

Roy Hodgson is in need of a proven goalscorer up front and subsequently, his team haven’t been the divisions’ entertainers. Across all competitions, 13 of Palace’s 18 matches this season have seen fewer than three goals, as four of the five exceptions came against ‘Big Six’ outfits in the shape of Man Utd, Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Instead, with chances at a premium, this game could fail to ignite and it’s the other markets that capture our attention.
The Eagles are generally better on the road and since the start of last season, they’ve picked up 1.5 points per game on their travels and just 1.1 back at Selhurst Park.
Only one of their past nine defeats on the road have come against a bottom-half side, while home or away during the current campaign, the lowest-placed side to have gotten the better of them are Sheffield Utd in seventh.
Given Newcastle are tough to beat on home turf and likewise with Palace on their travels, this has draw written all over it.

Newcastle have also been level at the break in all but one of their eight home games this season, while that’s also been the case in six of Palace’s last seven outings as both teams were goalless at the break in all six.
Seeing as there was just one first half goal across those four recent head-to-heads, the 0-0 correct score after the opening 45 appeals too, as does the half-time/full-time market.
