Recent Form
Defending champions Mumbai Indians have had a stop-start beginning of their campaign, winning three of their five matches so far. They look to be coming good with back to back victories and their star players have eased their way into some form with the bat.
Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan aptly bridged the gap between the openers and the middle order with respective scores of 27 and 31, meaning Kieron Pollard and the Pandya brothers could come in later to play their natural game without pressure.
That bridge is something they were missing earlier on in the season, and they still managed a whopping 208 despite Rohit Sharma falling early for six so the Royals will really need to keep the pressure on if they can get an early wicket.
RR have lost two on the bounce after a thunderous start to the campaign, scoring 442 runs across their opening two matches, though it’s evident so far that their form ties in heavily with Sanju Samson’s.
Mumbai Indians To Win
The Indian is their top scorer this season with 171 runs, 159 of which came in their opening two wins. Steve Smith and Jos Buttler are a danger to any bowler in the world, though they haven’t quite lived up to the billing just yet and although neither are ever far away from a huge score, it’s the Indians’ form that gives them the edge in this one.
Jofra Archer has been impressive with both ball and bat, hitting 62 runs off just 25 balls so far this season and he could be dangerous in the death overs for the Royals, though unless Buttler,
Smith and Samson can post a big total against a lethal Mumbai attack, this should go in the direction of the favourites.
