After 56 league games the season has finally reached the business end, as first placed Mumbai Indians take on second placed Delhi Capitals.

The Capitals almost saw their hopes of the knockout rounds slip away after a run of four straight defeats saw them backed into a corner, but a win in their final league fixture against Royal Challengers Bangalore was enough to secure second spot and a chance at winning the title.

For the Mumbai Indians it has been a fairly straight forward path to top the group. They’ve been head and shoulders above the rest of the pack and although they lost last time out to the Sunrisers, they didn’t have key players Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult or Hardik Pandya for that clash, who all return for this playoff fixture along with Rohit Sharma.

Both Bumrah and Boult currently hold top five spots in the whole of the IPL for their outstanding bowling so far this tournament, and with them back in the side, we expect to see a very different team to the one that lost last time out.

The Capitals have certainly held their own in the bowling department too, with Kagiso Rabada taking more wickets than anyone else to this point (25), while Anrich Nortje is in the top eight with his 19.

However, their batting has been a little shaky in more recent times and that does concern us a little.

Mumbai Indians To Beat The Delhi Capitals

This stadium in Dubai is where the last meeting occurred between these two sides less than a week ago, and with the result proving a decisive one in Mumbai Indians’ favour, you’d be brave to bet against them not doing the same again here.

Indeed, that encounter saw them win by nine wickets after chasing down their total in just 14.2 overs and given the Capitals have also lost all three of their matches at this stadium now, we’ll get behind the league winners to reach the final.
