Recent Form
The Red Devils have extended their unbeaten streak to 17 games in all competitions and confidence in the camp must be sky high at present.
The big question mark prior to the restart for them was how Paul Pogba would reacclimatize himself and how well he’d link up with January signing Bruno Fernandes, but any fears that the inclusion of both in the side would disrupt the midfield balance have been swatted away.
Over 2.5 Goals
Man Utd’s last four league games have seen them win by three-goal margins over Sheffield Utd, Brighton, Bournemouth and Villa, with many plaudits coming the way of frontline trio Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.
They’ve plundered a combined 56 goals in all competitions over the season now, though with the first two at shorter prices, it’s the youngest of the trio that interests us in the goalscorer market.
Mason Greenwood To Score Anytime
Greenwood now has four goals in United’s past three games, scoring in each, whereas Martial and Rashford have only managed one each across these.
Southampton did keep a surprise clean sheet when hosting Man City earlier this month, though in truth it was just one of those days in front of goal for Pep Guardiola’s outfit and we wouldn’t expect another here.
In fact, aside from the Citizens, the only other teams to have drawn blanks against the Saints over their last 12 fixtures across all tournaments were the division’s bottom two, Villa and Norwich.
Although United have registered a number of clean sheets during their unbeaten run, we wouldn’t want to back another shutout with Danny Ings in such fine fettle.
His well-taken goal at Everton required quick feet and takes his tally for the season to 19 in the league, while the Saints have actually been excellent at finding the net against the top sides.
They’ve done so in 16 of 19 matches against the top nine in the table across all competitions, though they also shipped 40 goals at the other end of the field.
Manchester United To Win 3-1
United are certainly capable of filling their boots and given the Saints’ own potential, Over 2.5 Goals appears highly likely to come in.
However, we also fancy a pop at the correct score with 3-1 looking promising at the prices.
United have bagged exactly three goals in three of their last four league matches and five in the other, while at Old Trafford alone in any competition they’ve netted at least three times in 10 of 18 since November, including four of the past five as the exception saw them put two past Man City.
