Man City got themselves back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats against West Ham and Crystal Palace on the domestic front. Their convincing 4-1 win at home to Brugge was just what they needed, though it was also expected and Man United will be a different test this weekend.
Consistency seems to be a real issue for the hosts at this moment in time, losing five of their last 11 outings across all competitions and winning just four, while they’re on a run of W1-D1-L3 in the league alone, despite facing just one side currently in the top-eight, with that one side inflicting a humiliating 5-0 defeat on them.
That result highlights just how poor they’ve been at home this year, winning just two of their five matches so far with both victories against side currently in the bottom-four, which doesn’t bode well against a side of City’s caliber.
City have identical W3-D1-L1 home and away records this year, and with United’s home form, the thought of going to the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ doesn’t sound as menacing as it once did.

While United’s move to three at the back worked against Spurs, it was less effective against Atalanta in midweek, and they’ve now conceded 13 goals across their last five games, and with the attacking talent their visitors possess, it’s hard to see the Red Devils limiting chances here.
With that said, Man City also have only kept two clean sheets from their last eight outings in all competitions, and with one of those coming against a low scoring Burnley side in the league, they may struggle to do the same against their city rivals here.
Currently this game looks as though it’s two phenomenal attacks against two relatively shaky defenses, and that is a recipe for goals.
United have seen 4.6 goals per game across their last five outings, and while City have seen just 3.6 from the same number, that includes a 0-0 draw with a defensively sound West Ham, and we’re happy to get behind a thriller here.
