Recent Form
Two giant 2-1 wins in the space of four days over Spurs and Man City have seen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s charges leap into 5th place in the table, though they do have a small gap to bridge of five points in order to break into those coveted top four slots, and a visit from Everton won’t exactly be easy if their performance at the weekend is anything to go by.
The Toffees ran out 3-1 victors hosting Chelsea having parted ways with boss Marco Silva, replacing him, temporarily at least, with club legend Duncan Ferguson.
The Scotsman had an immediate impact at Goodison Park as his players showed new levels of intensity that were lacking under their previous manager, and if they can play to that same level, we’ll have a tight game at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Both Teams To Score
Despite their recent victories, United have only won six of their last 21 meetings in the league, the least recent of which came as they were thrashed 4-0 in the reverse fixture last season, so they have a long way to go to convince their doubters wrong.
What’s more, they’ve also now only kept three clean sheets in their last 21 at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’, and with the manager bounce still alive and kicking for the visitors, they should at least get on the scoresheet.
In fact, they’ve scored seven goals in their last four on the road, scoring and conceding in each and with output not seemingly an issue for Ferguson to correct, both teams to score looks banker material.
United have been poor coming off midweek performances this season as they’re W3-D2-L3 in such games.
However, the most recent team to host Dutch outfit Alkmaar was almost entirely a reserve side, with Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire the only regular starters to feature and this shouldn’t have too much of an impact on the squad, so we’re inclined to ignore this statistic, even if the hosts did go on to draw with Villa here after fielding a similar team in Europe two weeks ago.
Everton Draw No Bet
However, what does catch our eye is the Red Devils’ record against the weaker sides this season.
Despite beating the likes of Leicester, Chelsea, City and Spurs, against sides placed 10th or lower they’re just W2-D2-L4 this season and we like the look of this rejuvenated Toffees outfit to get something in this one and the draw no bet looks the route to go down with only two of the past 15 meetings across all competitions having ended all square.
