Man City resume their Champions League campaign when they host Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday evening.
The Citizens ran out 3-0 winners over Shakhtar Donetsk on matchday one, and with a record of W10-D1-L2 in the group stages since 2017/18, they shouldn’t come under too much pressure from Zagreb either.

Pep Guardiola is wasting no time with his squad rotation as he looks to juggle a title race with Liverpool and a Champions League charge, which means players such as Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva should, in theory, feature from the off in this game having been rested at Goodison, though you never quite know how Guardiola will line up having benched the Portuguese international following a hat-trick.
The Croatians do currently sit top of this group after dispatching Atalanta 4-0 on the opening day, though the English champions provide a test on a completely different level.

Although Zagreb have netted 15 in their last four, seven came against suspended NK Karlovac in the cup, who don’t compete in a registered football league, so we’re inclined to view Man City as tougher opposition and disregard this result for the time being.

However, despite a very positive recent group stage record in this competition, City are rarely as dominant as you’d expect.
Indeed, only five of their 19 group games under Guardiola have produced victories by greater than a two goal margin, which is especially surprising considering they have faced the likes of Shakhtar Donestsk (5), Hoffenheim (2), Monchegladbach (2), Celtic (2) and Feyenoord (2) in that period.
The Champions League often proves to be more challenging than one would come to expect, and although we envisage the Citizens coming out on top of this one, their European record would suggest that Zagreb are good value on the handicap market.
