Recent Form

The return of Virgil van Dijk has made all the difference for this Liverpool setup. A sublime Jordan Henderson strike saw them beat AC Milan at Anfield during the week and it’s difficult to see who is going to beat them until they face Man City on 3rd October.

Palace will be quietly confident of doing just that under their new manager Patrick Vieira. A 3-0 victory over Spurs last weekend has obviously been the highlight of the season for the fans, but that was helped by Japhet Tanganga being given his marching orders in the 58th minute when the game was goalless.

They still had to make their extra man count and they did just that through Wilfred Zaha and new signing Odsonne Edouard bagging a brace.

Liverpool To Win To Nil

They’ll need to step up a gear if they’re to beat this Reds outfit though. Jurgen Klopp’s men have won four of their five unbeaten outings in all competitions to date.

They’ve also overcome their next opponents in all eight games between the two since the start of the 2017/18 campaign, with last season alone seeing them win the two games by an aggregate 9-0.

Sadio Mane To Score Anytime

Quite staggeringly, Sadio Mane has in fact scored in every single one of those head-to-heads over that period, clocking up nine Premier League goals over that period, while in his whole career when including his time at Southampton against the men from London, he has only twice failed to score against them from his 13 matches.

With that in mind, he has to be our shout to get on the scoresheet, especially since he now has two goals from his last three in the league.

Liverpool -1 Handicap

With it being early on in the season it can be difficult to gauge where certain teams are going to be fighting it out for the coming season, but considering Palace have been in the bottom half of the league in each of their last six campaigns, we’ll look at how Liverpool have done against those types of teams in order to get a better barometer on how this one might pan out.

Indeed, the hosts have won all their last seven outings against such sides both this term and the last, conceding just once and winning by two or more goals in six, and that looks the way we’d expect this to go as well.

PREDICTIONS:

LIVERPOOL TO WIN TO NIL

SADIO MANE TO SCORE ANYTIME

LIVERPOOL -1 HANDICAP
