Recent Form

It was an emphatic victory for Leicester last weekend as they put five goals past Newcastle, although the Magpies did concede four of those following the departure of Isaac Hayden in the 43rd minute.

Meanwhile, Liverpool extended their perfect run to the start of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign with a 1-0 victory at Sheffield Utd, while they also won their midweek European clash against Salzburg.

However, they made tough work of that fixture having taken an early three goal lead only for the Austrian outfit to draw the scores level in the 60th minute, before Mo Salah scored the winner just nine minutes later.

Great Start For The Foxes

The Foxes now have 14 points from their opening seven encounters, which is in fact their best start to the Premier League since promotion back to England’s top division for the 2014/15 campaign, even bettering the 2015/16 title winning side.

Indeed, they still trail Jurgen Klopp’s men by seven points and the Citizens by two, but no doubt this has set up a hugely exciting tussle between these sides given the circumstances.

Liverpool Supreme Home Record

The hosts will know all too well of how good their form at Anfield has been and you actually have to go as far back as April 2017 for the last time they failed to win in either the Premier League or Champions League, a run of 57 games with 44 of those being victories.

That itself is enough to put us off getting behind Brendan Rodgers’ charges, but nonetheless we still think they’ll make a game of it.

Correct Score Liverpool 2-1

The visitors since the start of their 2015/16 title winning season may have only won three of their 26 trips to ‘Big Six’ outfits, losing 17 of them, but 10 of those defeats came by just a single strike and so that makes one goal winning margin of some appeal.

Especially since the Reds have won 16 straight matches now at all venues in the league dating back to March, including each of the last two by single goal margins over Chelsea (2-1) and Sheffield Utd (1-0). In fact, even their European fixture against Salzburg on Wednesday night went that way and that looks the value option.

The head-to-heads are certainly in favour of Klopp’s troupes with them winning six of their 11 meetings across all competitions since the Foxes were promoted, as both sides netted in eight. That includes three victories from five unbeaten outings for the current league leaders at Anfield, two of which were settled by single goal margins and it’ll take a serious effort for anyone to overturn that record.

Both Teams To Score

Indeed, Leicester in those 26 aforementioned trips to the top-six sides have only netted more than once on three occasions, and exactly once in 16 and so we also fancy having a punt on the correct scoreline.

Only three times have the Reds plundered more than two goals in a game against last years’ top-nine finishers as well as the current top-nine this year since the start of last season, coming against a demoralised Jose Mourinho Man Utd side (3-1), which led to his sacking two days later, and the other two were when Arsenal’s disjointed defence came to town. The most common scoreline from those encounters was 2-1 and that looks the way to go.

Both Teams To Score (Yes) At 4/5

Handicap Draw -1 Liverpool Goals At 13/5

0.5 Pts: Correct Score Liverpool 2-1 At 15/2
