An exciting 3-3 draw with defending European Champions Bayern domestically at the weekend for Leipzig was an impressive feat.

They took the game to the Bavarians and caused centre backs Jerome Boateng and Niklas Sule all sorts of problems, as Christopher Nkunku, Justin Kluivert and Emil Forsberg all got on the scoreboard.

They’ll need to be on top of their game though for this one, with anything but a victory likely to see them miss out on qualification.

Man Utd on the other hand, took their time to get into their last game at West Ham on Saturday, going in at the break 1-0 down, but following half time substitutes to Donny van de Beek and Edison Cavani being replaced by Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford respectively, they went on to win it comfortably, 3-1.

It was a needed result, after they were beaten by that same scoreline at Old Trafford in the week building up to that by PSG, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will know how important this game is for the club and his job.

The Bulls left it late for a winner in their European fixture in Istanbul in the last round to bring them level on points in this group with the Red Devils.

However, following their 5-0 hammering at Old Trafford back in October, a draw will likely see them fail to advance to the last 16, unless the Parisians slip up against Basaksehir.

Julian Nagelsmann will certainly not want a repeat of that thrashing in England, but he’ll know more than anyone that the scoreline flattered the hosts, with the game being neck and neck until the introduction of Rashford in the second half.

Leipzig To Beat Man United

The German outfit looks in much better shape now just two points behind Bayern in Bundesliga, and this game is likely to be a completely different story with them in their current form and at their stadium.

Last years’ Champions League semi-finalists have an impressive record at Red Bull Arena, going W15-D7-L1 from their last 23 outings across all competitions here since late October last year, including victories in each of their last seven, while they went W4-D1 from their five such European matches.

Man Utd have been firing on the road though, winning 12 of their last 13 trips to opposition since late June, although that sole defeat did come in this competitions against Istanbul Basaksehir. Interestingly, Fred was absent from the midfield that day, as was he in their opening day defeat to Palace in the Premier League.

In fact, although they eventually beat the Hammers last weekend, the manager decided not to pick the Brazilian for that game due to ‘tactical reasons’, although it was pretty clear it was punishment for being sent off against PSG in midweek, but nonetheless, they looked less of a threat without him.

He’ll be suspended for this European tie, and we just feel that may give the hosts a slight edge in a game which looks set to be decided by fine margins.
