Recent Form
Both sides were involved in surprising results last time out as Leicester were demolished by a relegation battling Bournemouth outfit, while Sheffield Utd backed up their recent upsurge in form with a 3-0 dispatching of Chelsea.
That sets this one out to be an absolute cracker with only five points separating the sides in the table and so much more on the line in terms of European football for next season, especially after the lifting of Man City’s ban.
It’s a hard fixture to predict as although the Foxes find themselves struggling for points at the minute, they do still have a miraculous record at King Power stadium.
Indeed, W10-D4-L3 is not something to be sniffed at with two of those defeats coming against the runaway top two, while they haven’t conceded a first half goal here now for six games on the bounce, drawing the opening 45 minutes in nine of the last 13.
Half-Time Result A Draw
Having lost three games on the bounce across all competitions on their return following the enforced break, it has been somewhat of a test of character for Chris Wilder’s men.
They’ve gone on to win three of their four unbeaten games since and it’s hardly as if they were easy games either, facing all of Spurs, Burnley, Wolves and the Blues.
However, that recent draw came in their only road game in that period at Turf Moor as they only have four wins on the road this term, including just one from their last eight trips, as they haven’t scored a first half goal on the road for eight outings now and have only done so in three of 17 this whole season.
That certainly makes the first half market a seriously generous price for us in what looks set to be a cagey affair.
The underlining issue for Brendan Rodgers is the treatment room. All of James Maddison, Ben Chilwell and Marc Albrighton look doubtful for this clash, while Ricardo Periera remains out and the biggest loss of all will be centre back Caglar Soyuncu after his red card at the weekend.
Prior to his sending off, the Turkish international had only failed to play 90 minutes of the season and no doubt his absence will be felt at the back.
We’d be hesitant to get behind the goals market given the unknown effect the missing players above might have, while although the hosts are by far the more hindered outfit due to injuries, they did still win the reverse fixture.
With that in mind, we’d be happy to stick to the half time market with these two teams very evenly matched and both desperate of getting their desired European football spots.
