Tottenham’s hopes of finishing in the top four are slim, sitting five pints adrift of Chelsea, and they face a tough challenge from a dangerous and often unpredictable Leeds outfit.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men did however lose for the first time in seven appearances away at Brighton last time out, as their season could be in danger of petering out with nothing other than a top-half finish to compete for.
Ryan Mason may not have been able to inspire Tottenham in their League Cup final defeat to Man City, but he has overseen victories in league encounters against Southampton and Sheffield Utd.
The early indications are that Tottenham will be releasing the handbrake and playing on the front foot, at least when not facing the elite sides, so this should prove an entertaining affair.
Having said that, despite a reputation or gung-ho football, the goals have dried up a little for the hosts. Leeds’ last three games have seen a total of just four goals, with Marcelo Bielsa’s men scoring just once themselves, as there’s been a maximum of two strikes in six of their past nine appearances now, and seven of their last 10 at Elland Road.

In fact, against the sides above them in the table, under 2.5 goals has landed in five of Leeds’ last six appearances. Bielsa’s charges have lost higher-scoring encounters with Liverpool, Leicester, Chelsea, West Ham, Man Utd, Spurs, Everton and Arsenal this season, but they seem to have attempted a different approach to these games of late.
Leeds And Spurs To Draw
Their last four against top-half outfits have seen them share the spoils with Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd, as well as taking all three points against Man City, so Tottenham look a little on the short side for the win and the draw holds greater appeal.
Gareth Bale To Score Anytime
Although Leeds look set to compete well here, it may also be worth exploring Gareth Bale’s chances of continuing his hot streak.
The 31-year-old registered a goal against Southampton in Ryan Mason’s first game in charge and added a classy hat-trick against Sheffield Utd, leaving the Welshman with 12 goals from his past 12 starts in all competitions since the start of December, as he netted at least once in eight of these.
Moreover, Leeds have conceded 15 goals from set-pieces (the most of any team in the division), and Bale is certainly capable of scoring with his head.
