Lazio In Great Form
Lazio have taken their encouraging pre-season form into Serie A with a comfortable 3-0 win away at Sampdoria. That brings them up to seven victories on the trot since the start of July as the last four of these came against top-flight opponents from England, Germany, Spain and Italy.
Their games have certainly been entertaining for the neutral having bagged 27 goals and conceded eight across these seven outings in total, with this still 13-6 versus those top-flight teams alone (4.75 goals per game).
Goals Galore For Roma
Roma have seen a similarly ridiculous output at either end under new boss Paulo Fonseca. Since the start of pre-season, the Giallorossi have seen at least four goals in each of their six outings, during which time they’ve remained unbeaten (W3-D3).
That includes games against the likes of Lille, Athletic Bilbao, Real Madrid and most recently Genoa on the opening day, as they played out a 3-3 thriller where they threw away their lead on three separate occasions.
Fonseca has been justifiably accused of showing tactical naivety in that sense, but the Portuguese coach shown no remorse and will continue to instruct his charges to play on the front foot.
Over 3.5 Goals
Recent Rome derbies would also suggest we could be strapped in for some serious entertainment and in fact, there’s only been two goalless stalemates between these two over the course of the past 12 years (a total of 28 games across all tournaments).
Five of the last six head-to-heads have featured at least three goals, while half of these games saw a minimum of four strikes, so we’re looking forward to these rivals going at each other’s throats for 90 minutes on Sunday afternoon.
Roma Draw No Bet
With chaotic meetings seemingly the norm, it’s perhaps no surprise that only one of the last 11 head-to-heads since May 2015 has ended in a stalemate. Lazio won the last one back in March, but as impressive as Simone Inzaghi’s outfit have been over recent weeks, they haven’t managed to string together consecutive victories over their city rivals since 2012, with 16 derbies elapsing since then.
With that in mind, we’re somewhat surprised to see Roma at a significantly bigger price to take the spoils. The designated visitors last suffered defeat back in March, with the intervening period seeing them play 15 times (10 competitive games), and so at the prices they look a decent prospect draw no bet.

Whoever comes out on top, we expect both sides to register at some stage and it’s impossible to ignore the claims of Ciro Immobile in the goalscorer markets. He’s scored six times in his last eight appearances against Roma, with all but one of these goals coming during his time with Lazio, while he looked in fine fettle on the opening day of the season as he netted a brace.
