As we head into the final stages of the season, both these sides are currently clinging on to the top four, and a win here will go a long way to securing that spot for the knockouts.
The Knight Riders managed to hold out for a huge victory over the Sunrisers last time out having defended a reasonably reachable total, and it’s thanks to a change in the bowling line-up that this was possible.
The addition of Lockie Ferguson added a completely new dimension to a bowling attack that had ultimately proved too defensive and two reliant on spin so far this season.
They will almost certainly remain with the same attack for this game against a really dangerous side, which effectively negates the fact that they’ve been poor at taking wickets all season, and although Kuldeep Yadav managed to keep the likes of David Warner quiet, Kolkata will face far more strength in depth this time round.
Royal Challengers Bangalore To Win
Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have all scored over 200 runs each so far this season for the Royal Challengers, with the latter two really making themselves known as the dangermen in their recent outings.
Finch has been slightly stat-padding and hasn’t quite made the desired big game impact he’s capable of so far, though he’s never far off a big score and it’s a deadly line-up that very few bowlers in world cricket would want to face.
RCB have improved their bowling massively this year two, with the likes of Chris Morris returning being of massive significance as he finished with figures of 4/26 in their last clash with the Royals.
While the Knight Riders have certainly seen improvements from their tweaks, their batting lineup still relies too heavily on the middle order with Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik and Dre Russell so until their top order can prove their worth their place in the team, we’d expect RCB’s batsmen to come up trumps here to put one foot in the semis.
