Juventus Recent Form
For the first time in a while it looks like Juventus have their work cut out in the early stages of Serie A, with Inter two points ahead after six matches.
They produced another classic with Atletico Madrid a fortnight ago, following on from their thrilling encounters during the knockouts in this competition last year, which the Italian outfit (or more specifically Cristiano Ronaldo) won.
This time they took a two-goal lead as they appeared to be heading for victory, before 70th and 90th-minute replies from Diego Simeone’s charges salvaged a point.

Although that would have been disappointing for the Turin-based club, Bayern Leverkusen fared much worse on the opening day as they lost to Lokomotiv Moscow at the BayArena, so they have a huge task on their hands to turn things around in this group.
The German outfit currently sit level on points with all of Leipzig, Freiburg, Schalke and Gladbach in the Bundesliga, as they only trail Bayern Munich by a single point.
However, the most competitive opposition they’ve faced so far this year was Dortmund back in mid-September and they were thoroughly disappointing in that fixture as they were crushed 4-0, which doesn’t bode well ahead of a trip to Turin.

Only two teams have managed to beat Juventus in their own back yard in the group stages of this competition from 45 outings since 2001/02 – Bayern in 2009/10 and Man Utd last season.
The latter were very fortuitous given both Paulo Dybala and Sami Khedira hit the woodwork as Juve could only convert one of their 23 efforts on goal, with Jose Mourinho’s side relying upon an 86th-minute free kick to get them back into the tie, before striking again in the dying moments to complete the late smash and grab.
The Old Lady have managed to keep a clean sheet in nine of 12 group stage matches of this competition since 2015/16, with a total of just four goals being scored against them, as that fixture with the Red Devils accounted for half of those.

Juventus Injury Concerns
However, the treatment room hasn’t been kind to Maurizio Sarri this season, with Giorgio Chiellini, Douglas Costa, Mattia De Sciglio and Danilo currently out, while Alex Sandro remains a doubt.
That certainly leaves them a little light at the back and in particular on the flanks, as midfielders Juan Cuadrado and Blaise Matuidi had to fill in at right and left-back respectively against SPAL at the weekend.

Although they kept a clean sheet, we somewhat doubt they’ll be able to repeat that feat against a much more competitive side. Indeed, that was the first time they haven’t conceded in four outings, as well as their first at the J-Stadium this term having seen four goals netted past them from their three outings so far.
Leon Bailey and Karim Bellarabi may not feature in this encounter for the visitors, but with the likes of Kevin Volland, Kai Havertz and Lucas Alario, they still have the attacking talent to make any side pay.
Between them, they have four goals and an assist across their last two outings and although the victory looks unlikely, we’re expecting them to at least unlock the Juve defence.
